BALCHEM® FA 85

Application/Properties

‘Balchem FA 85’ can be used in leather processing for fixing of wet end chemicals. It also can be used in Pickling along with sulfuric acid and in Re-Chroming before the addition of Basic Chromium Sulphate for efficient chrome penetration. Then during basification the gradual addition of alkaline solution initiates the reaction of chrome with collagen. Leather processing with Balchem FA 85 provides

• Accurate pH control
• Facilitates the penetration of Chrome in the entire thickness of hides and skins during pickling and in rechroming.
• Efficient fixing of wet end chemicals such as faliquor, retanning agent & dyes, etc.

Apart from Leather industries, it is also used in:

• Coagulant for obtaining rubber from latex
• Intermediate in manufacturing of basic drugs, plant protection agents, pesticides, vulcanisation accelerators, antioxidants, and cleaning agents
• Preservation of silage and grams
• Electroplating and as a solvent

Safety

It is a corrosive organic acid. It is harmful if swallowed. It causes severe eye burns and skin burn. It should be handled with extra care and as per industrial practice. Any contact with eyes and or spillage on skins should be washed thoroughly with running stream of water immediately and then treatment with physician.

Storage

This product should be stored in cool, dry, well ventilated area and away from heat , ignition sources and incompatible materials. Protect from direct sunlight. Empty container of this material may be hazardous as it retains product residue in the form of vapor or liquid. Close container tightly after use.
